Get Ready to Multiply: The Gift of Pruning in Kingdom Entrepreneurship

Updated: Sep 25, 2025

Discover the gift of Kingdom entrepreneurship pruning and how God uses it to prepare, refine, and multiply lasting fruit in your life.

Friendship, Fruit, and Abiding in the Vine

Monday morning I sat with John 14–15, where Jesus speaks about abiding in Him as the true Vine. What spoke to me the most was the connection between friendship with God, obedience, and fruitfulness.

Jesus said…

“You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:14)

Obedience isn’t about rigid rules, it’s about intimacy. Friends are entrusted with the Master’s business. When I obey, I’m not just a servant checking boxes. I’m a partner invited into God’s plans, His wisdom, and His strategy. That changes everything!

Abiding Produces Fruit

Jesus reminds us…

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5)

The Father, as the Gardener, prunes fruitful branches so they can bear even more. That shifted my perspective.

Pruning isn’t punishment. It’s proof that something has already been fruitful. God only prunes what’s worth multiplying.

Kingdom Entrepreneurship Pruning in Real Life

Looking back, when I first launched my business, I saw fruit like financial wins, momentum, and doors opening. But when I stopped remaining in Him and drifted into ambition, the fruit withered. I burned out.

That’s when God lovingly pruned me, sending me into a season of full-time employment. It stripped away pride, ego, and self-reliance. Painful, yes… but also beautiful. That pruning was preparation.

This is what Kingdom entrepreneurship pruning looks like in real time. God isn’t cutting us down to destroy us. He’s refining us to multiply the fruit He already started.

Pruning Is a Gift, Not a Punishment

Now I can see how the pruning wasn’t the end. It was God’s gift. It was His way of multiplying what He had already begun.

As I move into this next season, the lesson is clear… remain in His presence. Keep prayer, worship, fasting, and the Word at the center. Friendship with God means I never have to grind alone. He is my source, my Vine, my Friend.

Reflection Prompts

  • Where in your life is God pruning you, not to punish, but to multiply?

  • What practices help you remain connected to Him as your source?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for pruning me with love and purpose. Thank You that every cut is an invitation to grow deeper and bear more fruit. Teach me to remain in You as my source, to walk in obedience as Your friend, and to never lose sight of the overflow that comes from intimacy with You. Amen.
