Scripture Anchor
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers.” - Psalm 1:1–3 (NIV)
When Growth Feels Slow
Lately, this verse has come up several times for me but what stands out the most is this... “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water.” This speaks to my spirit right now because this season hasn’t always felt fruitful. It’s been a stretch of faith, of patience, of waiting on the promises I know God has spoken.
But the Lord reminded me that trees don’t bear fruit every day. There are seasons where the roots grow deeper, unseen, strengthening for what’s to come. That’s exactly where many of us Kingdom entrepreneurs, visionaries, and faith-driven business owners find ourselves right now.
We’re planted, but not always producing. Faithful, but sometimes frustrated. Watered, but waiting. And yet, Psalm 1 tells us something powerful... fruit comes in season. Not by striving, but by staying planted.
Obedience Is the Root of Prosperity
The world tells us to chase opportunities, hustle harder, and outpace the next person. But Kingdom builders know that prosperity is never about pace, it’s about posture.
We don’t have to chase fruit, we cultivate roots. When our roots are grounded in God’s Word, when we meditate on it day and night, letting His presence direct our plans, He ensures the fruit comes right on time. Obedience is the soil where true prosperity grows.
What This Means for Faith and Business Alignment
For Kingdom entrepreneurs, faith and business alignment means trusting God with both your process and your pace. It means saying,
“Lord, even when the numbers aren’t moving, I’ll stay planted.”
It means choosing righteousness over shortcuts. It means remembering that your success isn’t seasonal, it’s supernatural. Because when you’re rooted in Him, whatever you do prospers. Not because of algorithms, analytics, or strategy but because you’ve chosen to stay near the Source.
Reflection Prompts
Where in your life or business are you tempted to uproot because the fruit hasn’t appeared yet?
How can you water your spiritual roots this week through prayer, fasting, or time in the Word?
What’s one area where you can trade striving for stillness and trust God’s timing?
A Prayer to Prosper in Business
Lord, thank You for planting me beside Your living water. Even when growth feels slow, help me to stay rooted in Your Word, confident that You’re working beneath the surface. Remind me that my obedience is not in vain, it’s the soil where Your promises take root. May everything I build bring You glory, bear good fruit, and prosper in Your perfect timing. Amen.
