The Weight of the Oil

Today, as I stood in the kitchen with Alabaster Box by CeCe Winans playing in the background, I felt something I never understood as a child. My mom used to play this song all the time, but now? Now I feel the weight of it. I understand the oil.

The oil is the secret place. The late night tears. The deliverance no one else witnessed. The whispered strength God gave me when I had nothing left. Oil can’t be faked.

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” - 1 John 2:20

Gratitude for My Mother

As I reflect on the oil, I can’t help but think of my mother. She modeled resilience and faith in ways I didn’t fully understand as a child. The scriptures, the gospel songs, the Friday night Bible studies… those seeds she planted are now the very roots I stand on.

She showed me that faith isn’t about perfection, it’s about obedience. She pressed through pain and circumstances without excuses, and in doing so, she gave me an inheritance far greater than material things. She gave me the Word, worship, and the example of a life anchored in God.

Now, as I walk in my own motherhood journey, I realize I carry oil because she first taught me how to seek God in the secret place. For that, I honor her and give thanks.

The Cost of the Oil That Others Can’t See

The enemy will always plant doubts… You’re not ready. You’re not worthy. You don’t have it all figured out.

But here’s the truth. You don’t need perfection. You just need the oil. And only God and you know the cost. Only He knows the valleys, the breakthroughs, and the closeness birthed in pain.

People may question your calling, but they don’t know the cost of the oil in your alabaster box.

Oil and Kingdom Entrepreneurship

This same oil is what fuels Kingdom entrepreneurship. Your brand, your business, your vision… it’s not just strategy, it’s anointing.

When you show up in the marketplace, you’re not bringing perfection. You’re bringing oil. You’re bringing encounters with God that turned pain into purpose.

Kingdom building isn’t about validation. It’s about stewardship. And when you build with oil, your work carries a weight that can’t be duplicated or denied.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” - Proverbs 16:3

Rooted Reflection & Prayer

I’m learning not to waste time proving my oil to people. My validation isn’t in likes, sales, or applause. My validation is in the One who called me and equipped me.

I walk boldly now. Not because I’ve arrived, but because I carry oil. And that oil came from real encounters with a real God.

So ask yourself… Where has God been pressing oil from your life that He’s now asking you to pour into your calling?

Lord, thank You for the oil. Teach me to treasure the secret place, to steward the anointing You’ve given me, and to walk boldly into my assignment with confidence in You alone.
