When Showing Up Is the Assignment: Obedience and Overflow in Kingdom Business

This reflection explores how obedience and overflow go hand-in-hand in Kingdom business. It's a reminder for faith-driven builders that motivation can be a prayer request when you seek God first.
Navigating Spiritual Lows
Last week really tested me. Every day felt like a battle between my feelings and my faith. I didn’t feel like showing up for my business. I was wrestling with doubt, confusion, and a heavy sense of exhaustion.
But when I started my Obedience and Overflow fast for October, I made a commitment to post once a day, publish one blog per week, and send one email per week. So even when I didn’t feel like it, I still honored that. Not because I was motivated, but because I was obedient.
The Moment My Fire Was Restored
This weekend, I attended the Block Girl Conference at The Block Church in Philadelphia. The theme was Matthew 6:33...
“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
And the ironic part? That was the same verse I fasted and prayed over at the start of this month. That’s how I knew God was orchestrating this.
When I walked into the conference, I could feel that my motivation was low. I tried to talk myself out of going all week, but I pressed through and showed up anyway. So I went to the altar and asked for prayer. Not for money, not for clarity, not for success… but for fire.
I asked God to reignite my passion for the work He’s placed in my hands. And He answered.
He met me there. He refilled my mind, my body, and my spirit. He reminded me that even motivation itself is something I can ask Him for.
Obedience and Overflow in Kingdom Business
This moment reminded me that obedience doesn’t always look like building something new. Sometimes it’s simply showing up anyway. It’s about trusting God to refill what’s empty and renew what’s worn down.
When you seek His kingdom first, He provides what you need. Not just externally, but internally. Peace. Focus. Motivation. Clarity.
This is what it means to build in alignment, not anxiety. It's letting God lead every creative, business, and personal decision, one act of obedience at a time.
Prayer for Motivation When You're Exhausted in Business
Lord, thank You for refilling what had grown empty in me. When I lose focus, remind me to seek You first. When my motivation fades, light a new fire within me. Teach me to build from overflow, not exhaustion, and to stay rooted in obedience every step of the way. Amen.
