When Obedience Looks Foolish

Last week, my husband and my 13-year-old son were joking about how much I post on social media. They laughed and said I “talk too much online.” It was playful, but it hit something deeper.

It made me think about Noah... When he was building the ark, people probably said the same thing...

They didn’t see what he saw. They didn’t hear what God told him. So his obedience looked foolish to people who didn’t understand the assignment.

And that’s exactly how faithfulness in Kingdom entrepreneurship feels sometimes. You’re showing up, posting, creating, and planting seeds.... but the people closest to you might not get it. You might not see instant results. But that doesn’t mean it’s not working.

Building for Who God Called You To

When I share content, I’m not posting for the people who already know me. I’m building for the ones God called me to reach.

Your obedience isn’t supposed to make sense to everyone. Some of the people in your “boat” won’t even recognize its purpose until the rain starts falling.

I’ve seen this firsthand. On Instagram, where it’s mostly family, classmates, and friends... engagement is low. But on TikTok, YouTube or through my email list, complete strangers reach out saying how the message encouraged them.

That’s the beauty of Kingdom obedience...

You never know who’s watching, and you don’t have to. God is the One sending the right people to your message, in His timing, not yours.

Faithfulness in Kingdom Entrepreneurship: The Test Before the Fruit

From a marketing perspective, it takes at least seven touch points before someone even decides to take action. But from a Kingdom perspective, it’s not about algorithms. It’s about anointing.

Faithfulness is the test before fruitfulness.

If I never get a client, a sale, or a thousand followers, I still win because I’m proving to myself and to God that I can be trusted with the little things.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” - Luke 16:10

Every post, every caption, every small act of obedience is training. It’s developing consistency, discipline, and steadfastness even when nobody’s clapping. That’s what faithfulness in Kingdom entrepreneurship really looks like. It’s the quiet consistency that builds character long before it builds visibility.

Keep Building Anyway

When Noah built the ark, the sky was clear. The earth was dry. There was no sign of rain. But he built anyway.

That’s the kind of faith Kingdom builders need today. Because sometimes, obedience doesn’t look impressive. It looks repetitive.

It looks like showing up when nobody’s watching and trusting God when you don’t understand the “why.”

Even the people closest to you might not get it. Not because they’re against you, but because God didn’t show them what He showed you.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that obedience doesn’t need validation, it just needs faith. Help me to stay consistent even when it feels unnoticed.

When doubt creeps in, remind me of Noah. Remind me that obedience now becomes protection later. Teach me to build in faith, to trust Your timing, and to find joy in the unseen fruit of faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Keep Building in Faith

Don’t stop building because it looks quiet. Don’t stop posting because the people closest to you don’t engage. Your assignment isn’t for everyone, it’s for the ones God sends.

Keep showing up. Keep planting. Keep building anyway.

Because when the floodgates open, the ark you’ve been faithfully building will carry you into your next season.
